Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Director of Operations who will manage the operational processes for the firm. As the Director of Operations, you will be responsible for duties related to legal workflow, staffing, technology, process decisions and general oversight of the day-to-day operations of the firm. While this role will report to the firm principal, we are looking for someone who will serve as a strategic advisor and feel comfortable sharing ideas. You should feel confident in your problem-solving and project management abilities and be able to communicate effectively with the entire firm.

What will you bring to us?

Design and oversee strategy for the legal department to ensure operational efficiency. Set specific quarterly and annual goals and initiatives for the firm. Assess and make purchasing recommendations for legal technology software and tools.

Develop and implement internal process guidelines, templates and workflows. Develop and update marketing materials. Develop process for onboarding new staff including training of such individuals. Assist in business development initiatives.

Oversee and implement all other matters pertaining to the firm’s general operations.  Oversee firm’s Database Manager and proper functioning of technology department.  Work closely with back-office team on billing and other matters within the purview of such team.

Identify processes to streamline efficiency of firm. Monitor timely and effective performance of legal team. Allocate work assignment requests among firm’s attorneys.  Supervise spend management and handle budget and resource allocation accordingly.

What does the best candidate bring to Berger Legal?

Your background: BA or BS required, MBA or JD preferred. 8+ years’ experience in a legal department, law firm or relevant operational management role. Financial experience with an eye for analytics, as well as the ability to work closely with the finance and accounting departments.

Your abilities: Strong leadership and management skills. Exceptional judgment in handling day-to-day interactions with clients and firm attorneys and staff. Outstanding problem-solving skills. Tech-savvy and well-versed in legal enterprise software, tools, and applications.
